The Solidarity Movement - rumors of crackdowns and actual crackdowns.

The Solidarity movement, reeking havoc with the Soviet-backed government and widespread curfews were placed in an attempt to crackdown on striking workers. Meanwhile, on Capitol Hill - Congress was winding up its session before the Christmas break with passage of some bills going down to the wire.
